A local motorcyclist is facing a number of traffic citations after he was stopped by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department Friday, Aug. 8, about 12:30 a.m.

Police report that they observed a motorcycle operated by Tyler S. Harvey, 25, of 324 Walnut St., make several traffic violations in the vicinity of the intersection of Madriver Street and Chillicothe Avenue, and gave chase northbound on Main St. before finally initiating the stop near the intersection of Main Street and Rush Avenue.

The report indicates that Harvey had difficulty parking the motorcycle, answering the officer’s questions, showed visible signs of intoxication and had an odor of alcohol on his breath, as well as a partially full 12-pack of beer on his lap. Harvey refused to perform standardized field sobriety testing following the stop.

Harvey was then arrested and taken to the Logan County Jail, where he reportedly refused to take breathalyzer and urine tests prior to passing out.

After speaking with Harvey’s probation officer, Harvey was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, no motorcycle endorsement, and no license plate, as well as stop sign, marked lanes, turn signal and improper turn violations before being lodged in jail.
