Flowers and greenery filled the Grange building at the Logan County Fair as judging for the week’s first open class flower show took place on Monday, July 7. Featuring hanging plants, cacti and succulents, special class – tea tray, and the junior class, Monday’s competition had this year’s judge, Marian Moeckel, in a bind as she chose the best of the best, referring to her tough decision as an “apples and oranges” situation.
Still, Moeckel finally made her choices, and the following horticulturists, pictured from the left, took home the top prizes: Karen Feltham, Best of Show, tea tray, and Sweepstakes for having the most entries with ribbons; Sherry Payne, Reserve Best of Show, foliage container plants; and Doris Hager, Reserve Best of Show for her collection of coral bell leaves. Riley, who’s homeschooled, won her class with a midnight gold double petunia, while Nikki found her winner with a Crazytunia Black Mamba petunia. (EXAMINER PHOTO | Sharyn Kopf)
