A Marysville man was arrested Saturday night, June 21, after a stalking complaint led to an operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs charge.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 11:45 p.m. to Cranberry Resort, 9667 State Route 368, Huntsville, on a report of a suspicious man reportedly stalking a female for the last few hours.
While en route, deputies were informed that the female had left the bar via boat with her family and the man was still inside.
Upon arrival, deputies noted the man’s blue 2012 Honda was parked, unoccupied outside the establishment and cleared the call.
About 12:30 a.m., deputies observed the blue Honda from the earlier call traveling in the 7400 block of State Route 366 in Russells Point and began pursuing the vehicle.
Deputies report the Honda weaved inside its lane, and at the intersection of Lincoln Boulevard and U.S. Route 33 the driver changed turn signal directions twice to possibly avoid going the same direction as the sheriff vehicle. The driver then went straight through the intersection, crossed U.S. 33 at an abnormally slow rate of speed and entered the Cobblestone Hotel parking lot, according to reports.
Deputies made contact with the driver, Jordan Jones, 27, and detected an odor of marijuana and alcohol and noted his eyes were glassy.
The driver denied drinking alcohol and told deputies the reason he drove so slowly across U.S. 33 was that the vehicle’s fuel injectors were bad. He also was not a guest of the hotel and couldn’t remember the name of the bar he had been in.
Upon exiting the vehicle, deputies saw open containers of alcohol in the driver’s side door pocket and in other places inside the vehicle.
Jones, whose license is currently under suspension for failure to reinstate after a physical control violation, refused field sobriety tests.
He was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail.
