Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report a 14-year-old boy was placed under arrest after an incident Tuesday afternoon, March 18, where he allegedly made a bomb threat aboard a Bellefontaine City Schools bus.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
Shortly after 3 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of the Bellefontaine City Wastewater Treatment Plant on south Troy Road in reference to a bomb threat. It was reported that a male student announced that he had a bomb on his person.
The bus was safely evacuated and the suspect, identified as Kehgan Basso, age 14, was taken into custody.
In cooperation with officials of the Bellefontaine City School District, the evacuated students were quickly placed on a secondary bus and transported from the scene.
District parents received text message notifications about the bus being delayed “due to a student comment being addressed on board,” along with other updates about the second bus.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Columbus (Ohio) Bomb Squad responded and quickly
determined that there was no active threat.
Troy Road was closed for a short time to secure the scene during the investigation.
Kehgan was transported to and lodged in the Central Ohio Youth Center in Marysville
for criminal charges related to the incident.
