Addition of new vehicles, continued partnership expands transportation services
Beginning March 24, 2025, people who live in Logan County who qualify for non-emergency transportation (NET) will have access to rides for out-of-county medical visits thanks to a partnership between RTC Transportation and the Logan County Department of Job and Family Services.
Funding for these trips will be covered by Logan County Job and Family Services, which will also review and approve NET rider eligibility.
“RTC Transportation is incredibly lucky to have a partner in Job and Family Services to help us meet the needs of our Logan County citizens who require medical care in places such as Columbus, Dayton and Lima,” RTC Board President Troy Gibson said. “It is this type of collaboration that will continue to help our most vulnerable individuals with transportation challenges.”
RTC, which specializes in helping individuals with disabilities, recently purchased two wheelchair-accessible vehicles, a bus and a transit van, the latter of which can transport qualified Logan County residents as far as 75 miles for medical visits.
With the addition of the two vehicles, RTC hopes to provide more in-county medical trips for Logan County NET riders as well.
To access, an out-of-county ride, initial ride requests will come through RTC, which will initiate the application paperwork required by Logan County Job and Family Services for individuals requesting non-emergency transportation (NET).
RTC will submit the paperwork to Logan County Job and Family Services.
Once eligible for NET, riders can call RTC Transportation directly at (937) 592-0534, option 1, to schedule. (Note: Rides can be scheduled two weeks in advance.)
In-county medical trips are still funded and available through the Logan County Job and Family Services NET program. A partnership between RTC and the United Way of Logan County also offers medical visit transportation for people 60 and older.
