A semi-truck driver was hospitalized for suspected serious injuries after his tractor-trailer crashed shortly after 1:30 a.m., Thursday, March 6, along westbound U.S. Route 33 near State Route 347 in Perry Township.
Maurice Coleman, 40, of Columbus, was taken by Perry Township EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for suspected serious injuries.
He told deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office that he attempted to pass another westbound vehicle and lost control on the icy road. Coleman reportedly tried to correct, but continued to slide to the right. He told deputies he let go of the wheel and braced for impact.
The truck jack-knifed and came to rest in the tree line. Damage was heavy to the semi, which was towed from the scene.
Coleman was cited for failure to control. A Logan County Haz-Meat team assisted.
