As the weeks and months have passed since the March 14 tornado that devastated Indian Lake, most of the state and national attention it initially received has faded, but the need remains as urgent as ever.

Dozens of individuals and families who lost their homes to the storm now face the prospect of spending winter in campers, and are still staring down months of daunting paperwork and other logistical challenges as they work to rebuild.

As part of its support of these residents, Galilee Lutheran Church hosted a tornado survivor’s dinner Thursday, Oct. 24, at its location on 301 Lincoln Boulevard, Russells Point, rallying the community to provide not only food but vital support.

The dinner was part of sustained efforts by faith-based groups, community organizations, and local businesses to help storm survivors with food, water, clothing and essential supplies.
