Blooming irises saved from cold snap

Louise Norris of Rushsylvania had an unusual discovery Tuesday evening, Oct. 15, when she went outdoors to prep for the first frost of the season. “I went to cover my mums last evening and discovered my yellow Iris had bloomed with more blooms forming. I guess they think it’s spring again! If only it was! I cut them and put them in a vase with water to enjoy indoors.” Temperatures are expected again in the low 30s Wednesday night, Oct. 16, and an overnight low of 38 is predicted for Thursday night, Oct. 17. A warm up is forecasted for over the weekend and early next week, with high temperatures predicted in the 70s. (Louise Norris PHOTO)
