Edgar Rosario De La Cruz, 26, of Bellefontaine, was arrested Thursday, July 18, following a domestic dispute at his residence.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. to a residence along the 600 block of east Sandusky Avenue on a report of a man assaulting a female victim.
Upon their arrival, officers made contact with three male juveniles who reported the suspect had punched and choked a female residing in the home. The victim told officers De La Cruz returned home from work and an argument ensued. The defendant has a past history of abuse, officers were told.
The victim reportedly attempted to contact law enforcement and De La Cruz grabbed her phone and threw it against a wall. A dent was observed in the wall where the phone had been thrown.
Other signs of domestic abuse also were observed. A victim’s right advocate was contacted and made contact with the victim.
De La Cruz was charged with domestic violence, strangulation and disruption to public services and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
