Pictured from the left are open class flower show day one winners Monday, July 8, at the Logan County Fair, Doris Hager of Bellefontaine, Judy Bozman of Rushsylvania and Marianne Antram of Lewistown. Hager won Best of Show in cut flowers for her princess phlox entry, which she is holding, and Reserve Best of Show honors in container plants for her miniature garden container featuring a bonsai chili pepper plant, mini red Maple coleus and other plants. Bozman received the overall sweepstakes award for the most points received in Monday’s contest, and the Best of Show award for container plants for her patio pot, which is pictured to her right, containing superbells, supertunias and several other plants. Antram garnered Reserve Best of Show in cut flowers for her rise and shine sunflower entry. The Lewistown resident noted that the growing season lately for the horticulturalists has been fairly favorable. “The rain the last several weeks has really helped our flowers. Before that earlier in the summer, it was off to a very hot and dry start.” (EXAMINER PHOTO | Mandy Loehr)
