Mrs. Mary Ann Lottes Rude, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024, in Ferndale, Michigan, at the age of 99.

Mary was born on December 27, 1924, in Red Jacket, West Virginia. During World War II, she worked in a munitions factory in Springfield, Ohio. She met her future husband, Sergeant Roger Rude, in Springfield after the war ended. They married and eventually made their home in Marysville, Ohio, before moving to Logan County, Ohio in the 1960’s.

Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She lovingly raised her children, supported their endeavors, and cherished their accomplishments. Mary had a deep love for wildlife and nature. She provided a landscape at her homes to invite birds, butterflies and other small creatures. She enjoyed caring for her pet dogs. She was skilled at gardening, sewing, cooking, and quilting. She looked forward to Saturday mornings to visit local garage and yard sales. She enjoyed reading, especially her favorite book, the Bible. Mary was a fan of music and particularly enjoyed Christian hymns, 1940’s swing, the Grand Ole Opry, and the music of Daniel O’Donnell. She was a faithful member of the Christian Assemblies Church in Marysville, Ohio, led by Rev. Donald Moceri.

In her later years, Mary resided in the home of her daughter, Pam, in Ferndale, Michigan. Pam and her husband, Gary, provided excellent care and loving companionship to Mary. The family would like to express their gratitude to Beaumont Hospice for their compassionate assistance.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Hazel Stevens Lottes, her husband, Roger W. Rude Sr., and children M. Kathleen (Gerald) Trees and Roger W. Rude Jr. She is survived by her children: Harold E. (Susan Wilson) Rude (Stow, MA), Ruby Diann Rude (Lima, OH), Rebecca K. Rude (Grayson, GA), and Pamela M. (Gary) Collens (Ferndale, MI) as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
