Benjamin Logan Elementary School announces the successful execution of its first annual Mental Health Fair Friday, May 17, coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Month.

Spearheaded by school counselor Heidi Fuller and with the dedicated collaboration of numerous volunteers including the Unified Arts educators, this pioneering event aimed to foster mental health awareness among students. The Mental Health Fair represents a significant stride towards cultivating a healthier and happier school community, school officials said.

“The importance of mental health cannot be overstated,” emphasized Fuller. “It profoundly influences every facet of our lives.”

The fair featured 10 interactive and educational stations meticulously crafted to promote mental health awareness and well-being among students.

“We are united in our efforts to ensure that the inaugural Mental Health Fair is both enjoyable and educational for our students,” remarked Tiann Harner, physical education teacher. “Each station offers a unique opportunity for students to explore and understand different aspects of mental well-being.”

Tyler Young, general music teacher, echoed the sentiment. “We are incredibly excited for the inaugural BLES Mental Health Fair. This event is instrumental in equipping our students with the necessary tools to navigate mental and emotional challenges, particularly during the upcoming summer break and beyond,” she said.

The district extends its heartfelt thanks to the non-profit organization PASS (Prevention Awareness Support Services) for their invaluable efforts in making the day a resounding success.

The timing of the fair aligns seamlessly with Mental Health Awareness Month, serving as a reminder to students, parents, and staff alike of the paramount importance of prioritizing mental health.

“As the academic year draws to a close, Benjamin Logan Elementary encourages everyone to allocate time for self-care and mental well-being,” school officials said.
