The Washington Township Police Department recently presented annual honors to its Citizen of the Year and Officer of the Year.

Sgt. Earl Wisener was awarded Officer of the Year and Washington Township resident Brian Jones was recognized as Citizen of the Year.

“Each year, members of the police department vote for who they feel should receive these awards. I feel as the chief of police it is important to reward hard work, dedication and to let our employees and citizens know they are appreciated,” Police Chief Michael Thompson said.

Sgt. Wisener has been instrumental to the success of the Washington Township Police Department. His mission is to rid Washington Township of any and all drug activity.

“The citizens of Washington Township live in safer, more drug free community because of the continued efforts of Sergeant Wisener,” Chief Thompson said.

The fellow award winner, Jones, goes out of his way each and every time asked to assist the police department whenever a need arises.

He currently serves as the vice president of the Washington Township Police Officers Association and has been instrumental in the success of the association, the police chief said.

“From photographing police department events to assisting us with drone operations, Brian has always stepped up to the plate in the betterment of our community.”
