Meek honored for 32 years of service

Longtime Bellefontaine Police Department dispatcher and administrative assistant Danielle Meek, left, celebrated her last day on the job Friday, Oct. 20, during her retirement party with colleagues, friends and family, including her husband, Logan County Sheriff’s Office retiree Tom Meek, pictured at the right. Dispatcher Meek began her 32-year career at the department as a 17-year-old West Liberty-Salem and Ohio Hi-Point Career Center student, serving as an assistant clerk during her law enforcement internship with the OHPCC. With the encouragement of her father, Al Pierron, who worked for the Bellefontaine Fire Department for 25 years, she became a part-time and then full-time dispatcher for the BPD. Following about 10 years as a full-time dispatcher, she served as the department’s administrative secretary for about 20 years. “After 32 years, we celebrate the retirement of a legend and friend,” BPD officials said. “Danielle Meek has been the cornerstone of the Bellefontaine Police Department. She has been a person that every department member knew they could go to her for anything and she would have the answer.
