Daniel Queen, 58, of Rushylvania, was charged by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department for leaving the scene of a collision that occurred Monday, Sept. 25 at the Marathon gas station, 1138 N. Main St.

Police were dispatched to the gas station shortly before 4 p.m. on a report that an employee went out to the parking lot to find her vehicle had been struck and the front hood was damaged.

Officers utilized surveillance footage to identify Queen and the white pickup truck he was driving back into the victim’s car and leave the scene.

Video showed Queen back into the car, get out of the truck, evaluate the damage and leave the parking lot.

Officers later made contact with Queen by telephone, and he claimed to have left the scene because he didn’t believe any damage had occurred to the other car.

He agreed to meet with officers at the police station and was issued a summons for improper backing and leaving the scene of an accident on private property.
