Phillip M. Wallace, 38, of 615 S. Detroit St., Bellefontaine, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and was served with a Hardin County warrant during an incident Tuesday, Sept. 12, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.
Deputies note that the warrant was for: aggravated drug trafficking, aggravated possession of drugs, possession of criminal tools, grand theft of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
Also related to the incident, Billie J. Orich, 37, of Kenton, was charged with tampering with evidence.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 5:05 p.m. to the area of 7598 County Road 98 related to a possible disturbance. The caller reported hearing a women yelling near the creek area across from his home.
Deputies located Wallace and Orich, who said they had been in the area fishing when their vehicle broke down.
Deputies discovered the warrant for Wallace out of Hardin County and placed him under arrest.
Wallace reportedly asked Orich to grab his wallet from the roof of the vehicle, and when she did, deputies also observed her throw a small black case into the vehicle.
The case was retrieved from the vehicle and inside, deputies found a clear glass pipe and a piece of cut straw consistent with drug use. Orich was then placed under arrest.
Wallace admitted that the case belonged to him.
Both defendants were lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Vehicle mechanical issues reported in C.R. 43 crash
Deputies responded to a non-injury crash about 10:25 a.m. Tuesday on County Road 43 near County Road 18.
Nataleighann A. Lewellen, 18, of DeGraff, reportedly was operating an eastbound 1991 Ford F-150 coming down the hill approaching the stop sign she began having mechanical issues with her vehicle and heard a squealing noise. She reportedly was unable to bring the vehicle to a complete stop and struck the rear of an eastbound 2012 Toyota Camry operated by Drew J. Grumbling 23, of Bellefontaine.
At the scene, deputies also observed a green liquid on the ground leading toward the crash, along with skid markings.
No citations were issued. Damage was moderate to the pickup, which was towed from the scene, and light to the car.
