Drug trafficking, weapons charges issued in stop

Scott Stahler, 42, of Russells Point, was charged with possession of drugs (bulk), trafficking in drugs and improper handling a firearm in a motor vehicle related to a traffic stop Wednesday evening, Sept. 13.

Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol about 10:05 p.m. on U.S. Route 33 near State Route 720 and conducted a traffic stop on Stahler’s vehicle for a marked lanes violation.

Upon making contact with the defendant, signs of drug use were observed. He consented to a search of his person. A large amount of methamphetamine was located on Stahler’s person.

A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle and two loaded firearms were located. Stahler also admitted to recently consuming methamphetamine.

The defendant was placed under arrest and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
