Red Skelton memories, Roots music troupe kick off Holland’s 2023-24 season

The Holland Theatre kicks off its 2023-24 Holland Presents series with two exciting shows in September.The month begins with “Remembering Red: A Tribute to Red Skelton” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16.

Popular Pigeon Forge performer Brian Hoffman returns to the Holland with his heartfelt re-creation of the beloved comedian’s jokes, routines and characters. Audience members will enjoy laughs with Clem Kadiddlehopper. Giggle along with Gertrude and Heathcliffe, the two seagulls; and feel the love of Freddy the Freeloader, the hobo who lived in the city dump.

Next up is Ken Waldman and The Wild Ones featuring Dom Flemons at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24.

It’s an interdisciplinary arts extravaganza with a troupe of eight musicians: a poet, a dancer, a banjo virtuoso and more.

Grammy-winner Dom Flemons has gone from being a founding member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops to an acclaimed international solo career. Longtime Alaska resident Ken Waldman is a writer with 20 books and a fiddler with 12 CDs.

The lineup also includes virtuoso banjo player and fiddler Aaron Jonah Lewis; Hannah Lewis, multi-instrumentalist and prize-winning percussive dancer; and guitarist Chris Westhoff.
