Johnathan Triplett, 32, at-large, was arrested and charged for fleeing officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department that attempted to serve him a failure to appear summons around 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4.
Police on patrol observed the suspect operating a vehicle northbound on Oakland Square. Officers were familiar with Triplett and aware that he had a warrant and was not a legal driver. The defendant attempted to evade the police detection by pulling into the parking lot of Community Market, 309 N. Main St., entering the store and fleeing out a rear entrance.
As officers began to take an inventory of the car in order to tow it, the suspect was attempting to lock the car using a key fob.
Officers in pursuit of Triplett on foot were eventually notified the suspect had forced entry into an apartment at 125 W. Brown Ave. Following an investigation by officers, he eventually turned himself in.
He was charged with burglary, obstructing official business and driving without a license, and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
