Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol announce that an OVI checkpoint will be conducted in Logan County Saturday evening, Aug. 26, in conjunction with local law enforcement.
The checkpoint will take place from 8 to 10 p.m. on State Route 366.
The OVI checkpoint, which are funded by federal grant funds, are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers and educate motorists.
Based upon data collected by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, there were more than 650 OVI-related fatal crashes in the state of Ohio in 2022.
“State troopers make an average of 20,000 OVI arrests each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers,” said Lt. Shawn Cook, commander of the Marysville Post.
“OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired drivers, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.”
The checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with saturation patrols of the surrounding area to aggressively combat impaired driving.
