An employee of a local pizza place was arrested for theft following a complaint from his employer filed around 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 6, and follow-up investigation by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Devin Triplett, 19, of Bellefontaine, was charged with theft for stealing rolls of coins and cash during his shifts at Vicario’s Pizza, 1141 S. Main St.

Surveillance footage showed Triplett taking money and coins from the register. During the taped theft, the suspect had taken $90 in coins and cash after making sure no one was around to spot him.

When confronted, Triplett told officers he had to split expenses at home and was helping his mom pay bills.
There reportedly were several theft incidents over the previous weeks, ranging between $50 and $150.

Triplett pleaded with officers not to be arrested, but he was lodged in the Logan County Jail. The report will be forwarded to the Bellefontaine Municipal Court.
