John Pultz, 34, of Sidney, was charged with assault relating to an incident Sunday, June 18.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched about 12:55 p.m. to the area of State Route 708 and Township Road 61 for an assault that had occurred as the result of a road rage incident.
Upon arrival, officers met with a 72-year-old victim who advised a motorcyclist had followed him from Jackson Center and was driving recklessly.
The motorcyclist reportedly stopped in front of the victim and the victim exited his vehicle to see why he stopped in front him.
Pultz then reportedly went up to the victim and punched him. Once the victim fell to the ground, he began to kick him several times.
Several witnesses advised they witnessed the assault.
Due to the victim’s injuries, Indian Lake EMS transported the 72-year-old to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office located the defendant at a nearby business ad he reportedly admitted to the assault.
Pultz stated the victim struck his motorcycle and he was merely following the victim to obtain his information. He did not have a reason as to why he immediately assaulted the victim when he exited his vehicle.
The defendant was taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail.
Traffic stops result in drug charges
John Love, 59 of Columbus, was charged with possession of drugs relating to a traffic stop about 6:45 p.m. Thursday, June 15.
Officers on patrol on U.S. Route 33 near Township Road 94 and conducted a traffic stop on Love for going left of center and nearly striking the patrol car head on.
Upon making contact with the defendant, signs of impairment were observed. He consented to a search of his vehicle and fentanyl was located.
Love stated he purchased the drugs earlier in the day in Columbus, but was unsure what kind of drugs they were. He was taken into custody and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
• Cody Joseph, 30, of Wapakoneta, was charged with possession of drugs during a traffic stop Friday, June 16,
Officers on patrol about 9:25 p.m. on U.S. Route 33 near Township Road 239 and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Joseph for a headlight violation.
Upon making contact with him, signs of drug use were observed. K9 Bruno was called to the scene and alerted on the vehicle.
A probable cause search was conducted and methamphetamine was located inside of the vehicle. Joseph stated it belonged to him. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine.
He was transported to the Logan County Jail.
