Students in the Indian Lake Middle School Students With Disabilities unit are excited to have a set of cool new wheels.
Members of the Chippewa Neighborhood Watch group recently presented the kids with a brand new adaptive bicycle.
President Nora Kitzmiller, Vice President Ed Essinger, Secretary-Treasurer Sheryl Taylor, member Faye Milonich and volunteer Billy Ganson who assembled the device were pleased to see the joy on the faces of the kids as they tried out the vehicle.
The bike can be adjusted in a variety of ways to fit any kind of rider. Physical therapist Wendy Parker said they’ll use it in the hallways and around the building throughout the year to help students exercise and build muscle groups.
The Chippewa Neighborhood Watch also gave adaptive bicycles to two individual students in the Indian Lake Elementary School unit.
Each bike costs between $900 to $1,200. The group raised the money to purchase the adaptive bicycles by hosting a variety of fundraisers throughout the year.
