Robert W. Mosier, 68, of Springfield, was charged with domestic violence related to an incident early Sunday morning, April 16, at a residence on Park Street in Lakeview.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 12:40 a.m. to the address on a report of a domestic dispute.
His girlfriend told deputies that she and Mosier had been involved in a physical altercation. Deputies said the woman was visibly upset. She told them that Mosier had woken her up and then started to yell at her and struck her several times. Deputies observed swelling to the side of her face.
She stated she began throwing items in the home and possibly toward Mosier.
Inside the home, deputies observed multiple glassware items that were broken, along with a broken coffee table. Mosier was not located inside the residence, and deputies were able to reach him by phone.
The defendant told deputies that he was almost back home to Springfield. However, a West Liberty Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop with his vehicle in the area of U.S. Route 68 and County Road 5. The officer noted that Mosier had visible injury to his face and was bleeding. He stated that his girlfriend had come home from the bar that evening and “went crazy,” throwing items in the house and striking him with a vase, causing the injury.
Deputies placed him under arrest and transported Mosier to the Logan County Jail. His girlfriend, who was not identified by deputies, also was issued a summons for domestic violence.
Driver transported from rollover crash
Caleb A. Baumgardner, 18, of Urbana, was transported by Allen Township EMS to Memorial Hospital in Marysville for treatment of injuries sustained in a crash Friday morning, April 14.
Deputies said Baumgardner then was flown by medical helicopter to the OSU Wexner Medical Center, where he was treated and released the same day for minor injuries.
Deputies report he was operating a northbound 2002 Honda CR-V in the 7200 block of Township Road 177 about 7:10 a.m. when he traveled across the centerline of the road and off the left side. His vehicle overcorrected and then overturned, coming to a final rest on all four wheels in the front yard of 7172 T.R. 177.
The driver was cited for failure to control and no seat belt. Damage was heavy to the sport utility vehicle, which was towed from the scene.
• Carl R. Burrows, 48, of Huntsville, was transported by Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries sustained in a crash Monday morning, April 17.
Deputies report he was operating an eastbound single-unit truck in the 6700 block of County Road 101 about 10:40 a.m. when he went off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and a tree.
Damage was heavy to the truck. The driver was cited for failure to control and was wearing his seat belt.
OVI charges filed
Misty M. Hill, 46, of Circleville, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to an incident Friday.
Deputies on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 33 and Township Road 99 about 9:35 p.m. observed her vehicle pulled off the shoulder of the road with its hazard lights on.
Upon speaking with the driver, Hill, she told deputies that she had run out of gas. While she was looking through her purse for her identification card, deputies reportedly observed two empty containers of whisky in her purse. She told deputies she had consumed the alcohol the previous evening.
Hill agreed to submit to field sobriety tests and was then placed under arrest. She was transported to the jail, where she submitted to a breath test, with a result of 0.144 blood alcohol content. The defendant also was issued a summons for open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and she was released to a sober driver.
• David K. Cole, 25, of New Paris, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a two-vehicle crash involving his pickup and a motorcycle Saturday, April 15.
The second driver, motorcyclist Derick E. Neeley, 39, of West Mansfield, was checked at the scene of the crash for possible injuries, but was not transported from the scene.
Deputies report Cole was operating a northbound 2011 Ford F-350 on State Route 235 about 6:20 p.m. when he struck the rear of a northbound motorcycle operated by Neeley that stopped to make a right turn onto Powhattan Path.
Deputies said Cole left the scene, but was located several minutes later and was placed under arrest for OVI.
Damage was moderate to the pickup and heavy to the motorcycle, and both vehicles were towed. Deputies said Neeley was not wearing a helmet.
