Philip D. Beasley, 78, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, peacefully in his sleep in his residence.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 12, 1944, the son of the late Alfred and Catherine Marie (Ridings) Beasley. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Peter Beasley.
He was a kind and loving husband to his wife of 56 years, Virginia M. “Ginger” (Dailey) as well as an amazing father to their children Karen R. Beasley of Bellefontaine, Kelly Beasley Wilcox of Liberty Township, OH, and Michael A. Beasley of Bellefontaine, and nine grandchildren: Rebecca Beasley, Matthew Beasley, Christopher Beasley, Nicholas Beasley, Derek Wilcox, Jered Wilcox, Katie Wilcox, Sydney Wilcox, and Max Wilcox.
He started his love for sports at an early age and was a talented basketball player in high school which earned him a full scholarship to the former Villa Madonna College (now Thomas More University), where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. Later in life he enjoyed playing softball in Bellefontaine leagues. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and worked for 11 years as the Service Safety Director for the City of Bellefontaine. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and was a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine where both he and his wife taught Sunday School (CCD). He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the B.P.O.E. Elks Club, Bellefontaine.
Father Shawn Landenwitch will celebrate of memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 1, at 11 a.m. in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 321 E. Patterson Ave., Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Following mass, there will be food and fellowship in Makley Hall, where everyone is invited. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery at a later date.
