Ohio Hi-Point’s Business Professionals of America students at Riverside High School recently participated in PowerPace Interviews and presented their BPA projects to a collection of community and business leaders in preparation for the BPA state competition in March.
The students were able to practice interview and presentation skills while community leaders were able to provide feedback, ask questions, and give encouragement to the students to help them be as ready as possible.
“I am so proud of all of these students for the hard work that they have put into these projects and cannot wait to see them be rewarded for their efforts at the State competition next week,” said Lindsay Wyan, OHP/Riverside BPA chapter adviser. “Being able to give students opportunities like these to showcase their skills and network with professionals in the community is what it is all about.”
Business and community leaders who helped students prepare for state competition included: Bellefontaine Mayor Ben Stahler; Logan County Chamber of Commerce President Ben Vollrath; Kyle Brunner with Citizens Federal Savings and Loan; Abby Miller with Rhodes State College; Amy Lump, Laurie Davia, Kelly Plikerd with Honda Transmission of Ohio at Russells Point; Eric Hickey with Marker Construction; Julie Walker with the Logan County Department of Job & Family Services; Katelyn Roby with NX Automotive Logistics, USA; Karen Grothouse with Spherion; Kelly Hoffman with Middlefield Bank; Taylor Allison with Mary Rutan Hospital; Shannon Reese with Small Nation; and Keith Thomas with the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center.
