8 ILHS students attend Buckeye Girls State

A total of eight young ladies from Indian Lake High School will gain valuable experience in the operation of government and make friends for a lifetime at Buckeye Girls State this week. 

The event runs June 8-15 at Bowling Green State University.

Buckeye Girls’ State is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary of Ohio. It is locally sponsored by the Huntsville Indian Lake Lions Club and the Charles Collins Ladies Auxiliary Post #381. 

Participants must meet several qualifications. Candidates must be juniors in high school, interested in government and current events, and have an above average scholastic standing.  The young women must also demonstrate high moral character, possess strong leadership skills, and have a desire for learning. 

The purpose of Buckeye Girls’ State is to educate young women from Ohio in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of good citizenship. For more information visit www.buckeyegirlsstate.org.
