LIMA — William Zimmerman and Mark C. Miller have been selected to serve in key leadership roles for the Third District Court of Appeals during 2026.

Zimmerman will serve as presiding judge, a role that includes scheduling court hearings and presiding over oral arguments. Miller will serve as administrative judge, overseeing the court’s daily operations, internal policies and employees.

Based in Lima, the Third District Court of Appeals reviews cases from 17 counties across northwest and central Ohio. The court hears appeals from county common pleas courts — including probate, juvenile and family divisions — as well as municipal courts within the district.

The appellate court is composed of four judges, with cases typically reviewed by three-judge panels to determine whether trial court proceedings complied with Ohio law and constitutional standards.

Zimmerman previously served as probate and juvenile judge in Shelby County and joined the Third District bench in 2017. Miller joined the court in 2021 after serving as Hancock County prosecutor and as a judge on the Findlay Municipal Court.

Counties within the Third District Court of Appeals include Allen, Auglaize, Crawford, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Logan, Marion, Mercer, Paulding, Putnam, Seneca, Shelby, Union, Van Wert and Wyandot.
