Woman arrested following assault of 8-year-old child

A Lima woman was arrested Thursday, August 22, after officers were called to investigate a reported domestic dispute in the city at about 3:54 p.m.

Officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department said that they were dispatched to a residence on Clark Ave. on the report of a woman who assaulted an eight-year-old child.

According to the report, the victim was reportedly arguing with another child when Krysta Lyon, 26, arrived at the house and slapped the victim in the mouth. When the victim pushed Lyon in self-defense, witnesses said that Lyon continued to hit the child with a closed fist, knocking the victim to the ground and continuing to punch the child in the ribs.

Lyon left the scene prior to officers arriving and the Bellefontaine Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene to assess and treat the victim for visible injuries.

Police learned that Lyon was at the Logan County Court of Common Pleas and she was located there while she was in a hearing. She was arrested and charged with domestic violence and endangering children, first -degree misdemeanors. Lyon was lodged in the Logan County Jail without further incident.
