West Liberty-Salem High School students earned top honors at the 2025 Jim Jordan Congressional Art Competition Wednesday, April 16, at the Warren G. Harding Presidential Library in Marion.

The annual event showcases outstanding artistic talent from high schools across the district, with 10 schools participating in this year’s competition.

West Liberty-Salem was proudly represented by three students whose work received high recognition:

• Sophomore Alexa Cheetham – 2nd Place Overall (Colored Pencil);

• Sophomore Ben Wall – 3rd Place Overall (Scratchboard); and

• Junior Geneva Estep – Honorable Mention (Colored Pencil).

“We are incredibly proud of our student artists for their hard work, creativity and the exceptional way they represented West Liberty-Salem at this prestigious event,” said WL-S art instructor June Seymour.

The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide visual arts contest that provides an opportunity for high school students to showcase their talent and receive recognition from their congressional district. Winning artwork may be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside student art from across the country.
