The Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District Board announced Tuesday in a regular meeting the return of its Winter Walking Program, which is slated to begin in January and continue through March 2020.
It’s the fourth year for the program, which provides participants heated locations to get their daily steps. The locations are: Bellefontaine Elementary School, 1001 Ludlow Road; Indian Lake High School, 6210 State Route 235; and Benjamin Logan Elementary School, 4560 County Road 26.
Indoor walking begins Jan. 6 and continues through March 15.
At Bellefontaine Elementary School the program runs Monday through Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. At Indian Lake High School the program runs Monday through Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.. At Benjamin Logan Elementary School the program runs Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Anyone participating in the program 10 times or more has the opportunity to have their name entered into a prize drawing.
In addition there is a Walk with a Doc each Wednesday at Bellefontaine Elementary. A local provider is on-hand to lead warm-up exercises and walk with participants.

Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District also hosts a Telescope Night on Friday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m. at the Troop House at Camp Myeerah, 7405 State Route 540.
The 2020 educational series also returns this year at Camp Myeerah, with a “creatures of the night” theme. Programming begins Friday, Jan. 10 with an owl walk.
Seasonal dates for the Hoffman Pool have been set. The pool opens May 23, and will be open through Aug. 15.
