Winter not going anywhere – freeze warnings issued

73

It may say spring on the calendar, but Old Man Winter continues to make his presence felt as all of Logan County and much of Western Ohio will be under a Freeze Warning in the overnight hours of Monday, April 7, and Tuesday, April 8.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington is predicting sub-freezing temperatures overnight, with temperatures expected to fall into the low- to mid-20s in the small hours. The Freeze Warning is in effect from 1 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Freezes can kill crops and flowers, especially those there are in bloom right now to include daffodils, tulips and crocus.

Gardeners may want to consider covering their beds overnight to protect sprouts, seedlings and blooms.

It is expected to be sunny Tuesday, April 8, with a high of 40 degrees, but temperatures are again expected to dip below freezing late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
