William (Bill) Lee Harvey, 81, formerly of Zanesfield, Ohio, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida. Bill was born December 7, 1941, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to Dale and Ruby Harvey. Bill married Susanne McNeill June 9, 1963, by the Reverend Keith McNeill.
He attended Bellefontaine City Schools, and his senior year graduated from the Virginia Military Academy.
The start of his career began as a State Bank Examiner under William Saxbe, and later as president of The Farmers Banking Company in Lakeview, Russells Point and Bellefontaine, Ohio. He later worked with his son Van operating H&S Asphalt LLC in Bellefontaine.
Bill’s pride and joy was attending all his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He was also an avid Hunter and Fisherman, traveling to Colorado to ski, and then Elk hunt at The Gates Family Ranch. He enjoyed his trips to Alaska, Mongolia and mostly to Harvey’s Camp on Island Lake in Ontario, Canada.
During his retirement, he worked and taught Skiing at Mad River Mountain for many years. Also plowing and salting the roads at the Mountain.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by John and Carolyn Harvey, Rusty and Margaret (Harvey) Kozusko, and Dale Richard and Marylou Harvey.
Bill is survived by Susie (McNeill) Harvey, his son Van and Vicki (Cook) Harvey, Grandchildren Jordan Harvey and Sheena Snapp, Brandon and Lexi (Franzen) Harvey, James and Katie (Harvey) Durkin and Keith Harvey and Stephanie Petit. His great-grandchildren, Ethan Snapp, Max Solomon, Brooks Harvey, Zach Harvey, Ben Harvey, Laynee Harvey, Baker Harvey and Collins Durkin. His cousins in Indiana Carolyn and Larry Convers, nephews in Florida Tim and Terry Kozusko, and nieces in Ohio Janet Lookabaugh, Chris Cox and Kathy Harvey Bennett, and his nieces in Ontario, Canada Anne, Mary and Susan Harvey.
A celebration of life will be hosted in June.
