William “Bill” E. Rittershausen, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton.

Bill was born June 11, 1943 in Liberty, NY to the late Theodore G. and Muriel E. (Erskine) Rittershausen. On June 6, 1966 he was married in Jeffersonville, NY to the love of his life, Roberta Ann Schmauss, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his sibling, Arthur William Rittershausen, and nephew Robert William Rittershausen.

Bill was raised in Jeffersonville, NY where he graduated from Jeffersonville-Youngsville Central High School. He attended Farmingdale College in Long Island, NY earning his Associates Degree and then continued his education earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. After graduating from BYU, Bill and Roberta settled in Logan, Ohio, to start their family. While in Logan, Bill was involved with the local EMS as a volunteer and spent 10 years with the Logan Police Department reserves. Bill’s career took him and his family to Dyersburg, TN and to Walled Lake, MI, before retiring in Bellefontaine, Ohio to be close to his family.

Bill enjoyed photography, contributing to his high school yearbook and had a photograph or two end up in local newspapers. Bill also enjoyed woodworking and always was working on a project or making something special for someone. He enjoyed taking his family on vacations and visiting family in New York and Pennsylvania. Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sons, Scott (Shelly) Rittershausen and Todd Rittershausen; grandchildren Alex (Kellie) Rittershausen, Mallory Rittershausen, and Trey Rittershausen; and nephew Theodore “Teddy” Rittershausen.

A Celebration of Life will take place Tuesday, May 6, at noon at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
