West Liberty-Salem rolled to a victory Monday, topping Northeastern 68-7 in Ohio Heritage Conference girls basketball at home.
The Lady Tigers improve to 5-3 in the OHC and 8-4 overall. Northeastern remains winless on the year, falling to 0-16 and 0-12 in the league.
Arianna Weaver led WL-S with 14 points. Also in double figures are Addi Wallen with 13 points and Maddie McGill with 11.
The Lady Jets got a three-pointer by Chloe Waugh, a basket by Danielle Phelan and one free throw each by Allie Peterson and Alison Shaner.
West Liberty-Salem took a 15-3 lead in the first quarter, allowing only the score by Waugh for Northeastern. Weaver had seven points and Wallen hit two shots and a free throw for five.
Northeastern got its lone point of the second on a free throw by Peterson in the early going. WL-S hit from inside and outside, racking up 28 points in the period. Weaver and Ava Johnson each had a three-pointer, with two by Wallen. Lucy Cole, Ava Poppe, Belle Sarver and McGill all contributed baskets as the Tigers were able to keep rotating in players off the bench.
The second half was played with a running clock. WL-S scored nine in the third and 16 in the fourth. For Northeastern, Phelan made a basket in the third and Shaner connected on a free throw late.
WL-S also won the JV contest, 29-4. Cole had 10 points and Grace Jones six points.
West Liberty-Salem hosts West Jefferson on Saturday for its next contest.

Chieftains down Greenon
Bellefontaine defeated Greenon 51-43 on the road Monday in a nonconference matchup.
Quin Zedeker led Bellefontaine’s offense with 18 points. Tiffany Boop had 10. Gabbe Hoon scored seven, Hailee Lamb six, and Rylie Reames and Laila Butler five each.
Hoon was the top rebounder with nine. Boop collected seven, Reames and Butler grabbed six apiece, and Zedeker had four.
Bellefontaine took a 15-10 lead after the first period, Greenon came back in the second, outscoring the Chieftains by six to lead 23-22 at the break.
Bellefontaine put up 15 in the third and 14 in the fourth, outscoring the Knights by six and three, respectively.
Bellefontaine’s JV won their contests 47-22. Lamb had 17 points, Shawna Burnell 16 and Joy Fogan seven.
Bellefontaine (6-1 CBC, 10-4) hosts North Union on Wednesday. It will be Senior Night.

Riverside falls to Bethel
Riverside lost to Bethel 36-29 in Three Rivers Conference girls basketball Monday.
The Lady Pirates are now 1-7 in the TRC and 4-9 overall.
Avery Perk had seven points and Kenna Johnson scored six for Riverside.
Riverside led 17-10 at halftime, and trailed by one, 21-20, going to the fourth. The Bees had a 15-9 edge in the fourth.
The JV game was two quarters long, with Bethel outscoring Riverside 18-13. Kenzie Stotler had nine points.
Riverside hosts Northridge on Thursday.

BOWLING
Ben Logan sweeps Indian Lake
In the boys match, the Raiders had a total of 2,726 pins to Indian Lake’s 2151.
For the Raiders, Jarrett Buckenroth had the high series with 474 (234-240), followed by Landon Stoodt at 468 (210-258); Nate Davis with 376 (180-196); Caleb Knight with 360 (171-189) and Dylan Stewart at 301 (179-122).
The Ben Logan girls won by a count of 2,401 to 1,898. Hunter McColloch led the team with a series of 431 (208-223), followed by Aubrey Zedlitz at 375 (215-160); and Maddy Hamm with 359 (175-184). In the first game, Kaelyn Corwin had 166 and Lorali Klopfenstein had 139. The second game saw Reigan Thomas roll a 177 and another bowler have a 147.
Scoring information for Indian Lake was not available.
Ben Logan will host Shawnee this afternoon, while Indian Lake faces Northwestern Friday. T-P Lanes is the site for all the matches.
WRESTLING
The West Liberty-Salem wrestlers took part in an invitational hosted by Triad on Saturday and placed fourth in the 13-team field.
Winning their respective weight classes were: Wyatt Shoemaker (106), who got a pin and tech fall; Kyler Langhardt (138) with two pins and a major decision; Silas Krabill (165) with two pins and a major decision;
Zayden Shafer (113) was second with a tech fall and a pin and Sam Bradford (190) took second thanks to a pin and major decision. Tim Krabill (175) took fourth with two pins.
Lance Saylor won by pin twice and finished sixth at 132. Also sixth was Maverick Reames with two pins at 215. Derek Wall (144) had a tech fall victory at 144.
“The team continues to grow and improve,” said Coach Andy Hartshorn. “And despite the fact that we all found some success this weekend, we still know the areas we need to improve in.”
West Liberty-Salem faces Northeastern for a dual match this evening.
