Bellefontaine Elementary School welcomed the Class of 2037 Wednesday morning. Principal Jenny Salyer, pictured, greets kindergarten students and parents.
It was the first day for kindergartners with last names A-K. Kindergartners with last names L-Z will start on Thursday, Sept. 5.
The eight kindergarten teachers explained classroom rules, toured the building, and introduced the students to the playground.
There are 197 kindergartners this year. The first week is used to acclimate the young learners.
The kindergarten teachers are Amy Bennett-Brinkman, Carol Fultz, Ami Horvath, Tracy Huffman, Brittany Johnson, Heather Usserman, Alyssa Ward and Heather Wechta.
Half of the Pre-K students also enjoyed their first day of classes at Bellefontaine Elementary School on Wednesday. The rest (last names L-Z) will start Thursday.
Approximately 90 students are attending pre-K this year at the elementary school.
Bellefontaine City Schools launched the in-house preschool at BES in September 2022. This preschool is for 3, 4 and 5-year-olds.
