Washington Township police: Employee charged with felony theft

Ashley Dever, 40, of Lakeview, was charged with felony theft and was lodged in the Logan County Jail related to a theft from the Village Pantry, 209 State Route 708, Russells Point.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched ab out 2:10 p.m. Friday, June 23, to the Village Pantry in reference to an employee who reportedly had been stealing cigarettes and lottery tickets.
Upon arrival, officers met with the store manager, who advised that Dever had taken more than $1,000 in cigarettes and lottery tickets while working as a store employee. These thefts happened over time while she was employed.
Officers spoke with the defendant, and she stated that she did plan to pay for the items at a later date.

Crash leads to OVI charge
Daniel Grodek, 30 of Lockland, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs relating to a non-injury crash about 8 p.m. Friday.
Officers were dispatched to the 9100 block of Park Street in reference to the accident, and upon arrival, officers met with the driver of the vehicle, Grodek.
While speaking with Daniel, signs of impairment were observed. Officers spoke with witnesses, who advised that Grodek had been drinking all day and then assaulted three of his friends who were trying to prevent him from driving.
The defendant was able to get into the vehicle and backed into a parked vehicle on the roadway. He was held at the scene by several witnesses.
Grodek refused to submit to field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. The witnessed did not wish to pursue assault charges.
The defendant was transported to the Logan County Jail. Once at the jail, he reportedly was uncooperative and placed in the restraint chair. He refused to submit to a breath test. Grodek also was cited for improper backing.

Man lodged for criminal trespass
• Daniel Hanson, 41, of Lakeview, was charged with violating a protection order and criminal trespass related to an incident Saturday afternoon, June 24.
About 1:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to 400 Lincoln Blvd., Apt 47, Russells Point, in reference to a trespassing complaint.
The complainant stated that Hanson was at the apartment complex after being trespassed from the property. Once officers arrived on scene, the defendant reportedly was located hiding in the apartment bedroom. Officers learned that he was also violating a protection order due to an active protection order being in place.
Hanson was taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail.
