Warren W. Carey, 88, of DeGraff, passed away peacefully at 7:20 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at his home. He was born in Shelby County, Ohio on November 17, 1935, a son of the late Judd Albert Carey and Ida Mae (Rees) Carey.
On January 8, 1961, Warren married Jean (Chandler) Carey in DeGraff, Ohio and she survives, along with their four children, Raymond Carey, Jim (Debbie) Carey, Michael (Brenda) Carey, and David (Emily) Carey; eight grandchildren, Alexander Carey, Hailey Carey, Benjamin Carey, Evan Carey, Cassidy Carey, Austin Carey, Elena Carey, Megan Carey; two sisters, Joan (Bryan) Cho, and Martha Schroerlucke; a brother, Max (Louann) Carey; a niece; and four nephews. In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dick Schroerlucke.
Warren retired from Navistar after 35 years of service. A faithful member of Cornerstone Fellowship of DeGraff, Warren performed many church duties. He had served as president of the Weekday Religious Education program of Logan County for 18 years and was a volunteer firefighter with the DeGraff Fire Department from 1961 to 2003. In his leisure time, Warren enjoyed growing and sharing vegetables from his garden and fishing.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, February 8, at Cornerstone Fellowship of DeGraff, 1839 County Road 24S in DeGraff, where Pastor Michael Mitchell will officiate a funeral service at noon. Burial will follow in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio.
