With the frigid temperatures of January hitting the area this weekend, an urgent request has gone out from the Bellefontaine First Church of God (BFCOG) for volunteers at their winter warming shelter.
According to the church’s Facebook page, they have an immediate need for overnight volunteers to assist the Recovery Zone Emergency Warming Shelter at 1000 E. Brown Avenue from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. The shelter is activated when temperatures are expected to drop below 20 degrees.
Current weather forecasts indicate the area could see temps getting below zero degrees when the windchill is taken into consideration.
