Wanda Louise Stahler passed away peacefully, in her sleep, Wednesday August 9, 2023, at the age of 92.
She was born on May 12, 1931, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; the daughter of J. Alvan and Nova Marquis. She grew up in the village of Hanoverton, in northeastern Ohio.
Wanda graduated from Augusta High School in 1949 and received her bachelor’s degree from Marietta College in 1953 and was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. She moved to Bellefontaine to begin her teaching career later that same year and met her husband (Bob). On December 20, 1953, she married the love of her life, Robert L Stahler. They enjoyed sharing 57 wonderful years together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jerome and Edward Marquis, and her husband, Bob. Her loving family all referred to her as “Mimi”.
She is survived by three children: Jeffrey (Jeani) Stahler, of Denver, Colorado, Robert Benjamin “Ben” (Sara) Stahler of Bellefontaine, Robyn (Andrew) Wunderle of Bellefontaine. She was proud of her eight grandchildren and their spouses: Maggie (Ivan) Orsic, Alex (Vanessa) Stahler, Nik (Ashley) Wunderle, Adam (Marissa) Wunderle, Tyler (Brittany Johnson) Wunderle, Lauren (Mike) Burkhardt, Jennifer (Jesse) Jervis, Rob Stahler.
She was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren: Zoe Jervis, Dori Jervis, Tilly Jervis, Jesse Jervis Jr., Griffin Burkhardt, Charlotte Burkhardt, Ella Wunderle, Sophie Wunderle, Mila Orsic, Luca Orsic, Lula Stahler and Margot Stahler. “Mimi” was so very proud of her family’s smiles, warmth, and many accomplishments!
Wanda and Bob enjoyed their many travels together. Family time was often spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, teaching them the joy of art, playing all sorts of card games, and spending precious moments in Wanda’s kitchen, as she was an avid baker! Her pies would often bring Blue Ribbon recognition at the Logan County Fair!
Wanda later retired from teaching in 1988. She was a Charter Board Member of the Logan County, Education Foundation, the Logan County Art league, and the Art Club Ladies.
Her love of painting, with watercolors continued throughout her life, until her final days. She was honored to be inducted into the Ohio Watercolor Society.
Bob and Wanda were bridge players spending special evenings and weekends with card playing friends and family. They spent their retirement years, during the winter months, at Siesta Key Beach where they made new friends from across the United States and Canada.
