Alex Chambers-Caetano, 31, of Bellefontaine, was charged with aggravated trespassing and burglary following an incident that occurred around 7 :30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at a residence on Gunntown Road.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of Gunntown Road on a report the suspect had kicked open the front door and made violent comments toward the residents there.

Police were told the victim pointed a gun at Chambers-Caetano in self-defense and the suspect fled the area. Officers surveyed the immediate vicinity and eventually spotted the suspect walking into Wal-Mart.

Contact was made with store employees and the suspect was apprehended inside the store, the odor of alcohol coming from his person. He reportedly made threatening comments to law enforcement and store employees as he was being detained.

In a statement to police, the victim said that the suspect had previously been permitted to stay there because of the cold weather, but was no longer supposed to be there.

Chambers-Caetano reportedly knocked at the doors and windows of the residence, spooking the victim who retrieved his firearm for protection. As he returned to the front door, the suspect kicked it open and that’s when the victim pointed the gun at him.
Shortly thereafter, Chambers-Caetano fled and eventually apprehended at Wal-Mart.

He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
