A driver and passenger were each arrested on outstanding warrants and additional charges following a traffic stop initiated Thursday, March 27, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department in the area of the 1600 block of north U.S. Route 68.
Trisha Grider, 46, and Brandan Oglesbee, 26, both of Kenton, were lodged in the Logan County Jail as a result of the stop.
Grider was arrested on a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear and cited for driving under OVI suspension. Oglesbee was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear and charged with obstructing official business.
Officers stopped Grider’s Dodge pickup around 8:51 p.m. after reportedly observing the vehicle crossing the centerline near McKinley Fields. Grider, who was unable to provide a driver’s license, was identified through her social security number. Dispatch confirmed she had a suspended license and the outstanding warrant.
While officers were dealing with Grider, Oglesbee, a passenger in the truck, began shouting obscenities. When questioned, Grider refused to provide the last names of her passengers. Officers determined that Oglesbee also had an outstanding warrant.
After being placed under arrest, Oglesbee initially refused to provide his name, or any other identifying information. A search of his person revealed a pocket knife in his front pocket.
Both Grider and Oglesbee were transported to the jail. Grider was cited for driving under OVI suspension and lodged on her warrant. Oglesbee was charged with obstructing official business and lodged on his failure to appear warrant.
The pickup truck was towed from the scene.
