Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol in conjunction with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington Township Police Department, and the Russells Point Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint over the weekend on State Route 366 near mile post 4 in Logan County.
During the Saturday evening checkpoint from 8 to 10 p.m., there were 108 vehicles checked through the sobriety checkpoint, with no vehicles being diverted for suspicion of impaired driving.
In addition to the sobriety checkpoint, officers conducted saturation patrols in the vicinity of the checkpoint.
During the saturation patrol, more than 25 traffic stops were initiated, with two of those traffic stops resulting in arrests for impaired driving.
The OVI checkpoint is funded by federal grand money. OVI checkpoints are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers as well as educate motorist.
The patrol reminds motorists, if you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink.
“Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel,” Marysville Post Commander Lt. Shawn Cook said.
