Traffic stops net drug charges

Paula Carter, 57, of Bellefontaine, was charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop Saturday, Dec. 9.

Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol on County Road 54 near Township Road 215 conducted a traffic stop about 1:30 p.m. on a vehicle occupied by Carter for a license plate violation.

Upon making contact with the defendant, a methamphetamine pipe was observed in plain view in her purse. She admitted to having methamphetamine hidden in her bra and handed officers the substance, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Carter was taken into custody and lodged in the Logan County Jail.

• Skybree Schindler, 41, of Bellefontaine, was charged with tampering with evidence and possession of drugs during a traffic stop Friday evening, Dec. 8.

Officers on patrol on U.S. Route 33 near State Route 708 conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Schindler for a marked lanes violation about 6:45 p.m.

Upon making contact with the defendant, signs of drug use were observed. She was asked to remove items from her pocket.

As Schindler was removing the items, officers observed a clear plastic bag showing from inside of pants at the waist line. She removed the back and officers said it was found to contain crack cocaine.

Schindler also reportedly removed a pipe used to consume crack cocaine from her pants. She stated she put the items in her pants as she was getting pulled over to avoid officers locating them.

The defendant was taken into custody and lodged in the jail.
