Daniel McWilliams, 33, of Troy, was charged with having weapons under disability during a traffic stop Wednesday, May 31.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol about 8:25 p.m. conducted a stop with his vehicle on State Route 235 near County Road 91 related to a speed violation.
Upon making contact with McWilliams, he was found to not have a valid driver’s license. The defendant displayed signs of drug use and a K9 was called to the scene.
The K9 alerted on the vehicle and a probable cause search was conducted. During the search, a loaded .45 caliber handgun was found under the driver’s seat.
A criminal history check found that McWilliams is prohibited from possessing a firearm. Occupants inside of the vehicle admitted to drug usage in the vehicle prior to the traffic stop.
McWilliams was taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail.
