Todd D. Brown, 58, of Urbana, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023, at his home.

Todd was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, on November 22, 1964 to Ronald and Constance Brown.

Todd married the love of his life, Lee Ann Costin, on October 12, 1984, in Bellefontaine, and she survives in Urbana, Ohio. He is also survived by his son Dax (Hannah) Brown of Columbus, his brother Chris (Dianna) Brown of Bellefontaine, his mother Constance Brown of DeGraff, his sister Teri (Bob) Cook of Degraff, his mother-in-law Marcia Tillman of Bellefontaine, his brothers-in-law: Nick (Mindy) Tillman and David Costin of Bellefontaine, his sisters-in-law: Teresa Linville of Columbus, Jennifer Engle of Bellefontaine, Stacey (Greg) Penhorwood of Bellefontaine, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Ronald Brown, his paternal grandparents Carol and Gertrude Brown, his maternal grandparents Charles and Delores Bailey, his father-in-law Dr. Timothy Tillman, his brother-in-law John Engle and his nephew Zachary Hemmelgarn

Todd grew up a proud resident of South Detroit Street where he enjoyed playing sports, hunting, and spending time with his childhood friends and family. He graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1983 and joined the United States Army in 1984 where he served as a Military Police Officer until 1986.

Todd joined the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office in 1986 where he protected and served his community until 1996. In 1996, he joined the Ohio Attorney General’s Office as a Special Agent with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation where he served until his retirement in 2011.

Todd was an avid fan of golf, baseball, and football. He was a life-long fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Yankees. He especially loved watching Michigan Wolverines football with his son Dax, and feverishly cheering for whoever played against the Buckeyes. He had a passion for cooking and enjoyed rescuing pets with his wife Lee Ann. He also cherished his time spent mushroom hunting with his beloved brother Chris.

Todd was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His outrageous stories, words of wisdom, and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew him.

Respecting Todd’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held in lieu of a traditional funeral service and calling hours. The celebration of life will take place Saturday, Sept. 9, from noon to 4 p.m. at The Champaign Aviation Museum in Urbana, Ohio. Casual attire is preferred.
