Tigers down Dixie in opening round of softball tournament

SoftballWest Liberty-Salem’s softball team opened Division III sectional tournament play Monday with a 10-0 win over visiting Dixie.

The Tigers are now 5-13 on the season. They advance to to play second-seeded Arcanum on Wednesday at Arcanum.

WL-S scored three times in the opening inning for an early 3-0 lead.

The Tigers opened up some breathing room with five runs in the fourth inning. They added two more in the sixth.

Kennedy Wallace earned the win in the pitching circle. She allowed three hits and no walks while striking out eight.

Offensively for WL-S, Ava Buck went 2-3 with a double and two RBI, Brielle Milliron went 2-4 with a triple, Brittany Neer went 2-3, Rylie Schultz had a double and an RBI, Wallace went 3-4 with a double and three RBI and Brooklyn Wilcoxon went 2-4.
