Editor’s Note: The following is a statement released by Champaign County Sheriff Chad M. Burroughs concerning Friday’s evacuation of Dallas Stadium during the Graham-Urbana football game.
On Friday, September 12th, 2025, at approximately 20:29 hours, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office received a call and responded to Graham High School, located at 7800 W. U.S. Route 36, Saint Paris, Ohio, following a report of an individual experiencing a mental health crisis.
As a precaution, the ongoing football game was evacuated to ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees. Deputies promptly located the individual involved. The individual was transported for a mental health evaluation.
At no time was there an immediate threat to the public. The evacuation was conducted solely out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of community safety.
The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting the safety of all residents and visitors. We extend our gratitude to the public for their cooperation and understanding during this incident.

Graham was leading Urbana 40-27 when the game was halted Friday and went on to beat the Hillclimbers 67-47 after the game resumed Saturday morning.

ST. PARIS — The Graham–Urbana football game was suspended Friday night, Sept. 12, after a potential threat prompted the evacuation of Graham High School’s Dallas Stadium, according to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the school around 8:30 p.m., and a heavy law enforcement presence remained on the scene as of 10 p.m.
Graham Local Schools Superintendent Chad Lensman said a quick decision to suspend play was made in collaboration with deputies due to a potential threat in the county.
A “dangerous” person was being sought by deputies in connection with a possible threat directed at the stadium, according to various media outlets.
The stadium was cleared in about 20 minutes after law enforcement made a public address system annoucement to exit the stadium and go home.
No injuries were reported and no arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident.
The Falcons were leading the Hillclimbers 40-27 at halftime, and players were preparing to start the second half when the game was halted.
School officials said the game will resume at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The incident remains under investigation.
