Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, ENT, Neurology, Audiology and Podiatry housed in new addition

On the heels of the grand opening celebration of the Goble Center for Women & Children one week ago, Mary Rutan Health hosted festivities Friday, Jan. 27, ushering in another $4 million project with the completion of the third floor of the Health Center at 1134 N. Main St., now home to multiple medical specialties.

Chad Ross, Mary Rutan Health president and CEO, said it’s been nearly five years since the Mary Rutan Health Center opened in February 2018. The third floor previously was the unfinished “shell” space at that time.

“We knew early in the master facility planning process that this extra space would be vital to our growth and expansion in the years to come,” he said.

“Today, we are excited to complete the Health Center with the opening of the third floor and we welcome Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, ENT, Neurology, Audiology and Podiatry to their new home. This 18,000-square-foot space has allowed us to grow our provider base and continue to offer specialty services rarely seen in a community of our size.”

Within these clinics on the third floor of the Health Center are 21 private exam and procedure rooms, onsite imaging, and a waiting space “offering a soothing environment that promotes healing and enhances the patient experience,” Ross noted.

“We want this to be a leading destination for comprehensive healthcare services in our community. Quite frankly, we also believe this overall facility accomplishes our goal of creating a modern and favorable impression on all people who visit or even pass by on the roads.”

Members of the community also enjoyed checking out the views of Bellefontaine and the surrounding landscape from the third floor, which officials noted is one mile from Ohio’s highest point at Campbell Hill.

Noting the nearby pinnacle of the state’s geography, Ross said Mary Rutan Health has assembled a team of healthcare professionals “to match the lofty geography.”

Orthopedics and Sports Medicine’s four orthopedic surgeons are Dr. Nicholas Peters, Dr. Jason Anane-Sefah, Dr. Frank Fumich and Dr. Steven Haman. In addition, physician assistant Joe Fawcett and Certified Athletic Trainers Steven Klien and Tiffany Roe provide further support to the team.

“Collectively, this group of great physicians and professionals provides specialists in hand, spine, trauma, joint replacement, sports medicine and an array of surgical procedures,” the president and CEO said.

With the opening of this new space, podiatry has also been added to the service line. Dr. Eric Anderson will join team and will start seeing patients here next month.

The Mary Rutan Ear, Nose & Throat continues to keep pace with the growing need for this service line in the community. This month, ENT surgeon Dr. Gordon Katz has joined Dr. Kimberly Klapchar and Dr. Clifton Hood.

Audiology has grown, too, with the recent addition of Audiologist Samantha Mogan, who joins Erica Elsasser.

Rounding out the service lines on the third floor is Neurology, with Neurologist Dr. Ann Mclean and also welcoming certified nurse practitioner Matthew Hillery to the neurology team.

With the culmination of the project and the completion of the Health Center, Ross expressed appreciation to construction manager Marker Inc., the architects and design professionals at DesignGroup and “all of our quality subcontractors for another well-managed and quality project.

“Great work also by our internal planning and construction team for another well-managed project – Ted Patton, Tom Denbow, Tammy Inskeep, Vicki Fout, Brian Greavu, Robert Reynolds, Terry Bay and Tiffany Rockhold, Ron Black and many others.

“Thank you to our board and staff members for supporting the project and continuing to position Mary Rutan Health to take on this project and others on our facility strategic plan. Without their hard work, we would not be in the position to reinvest in our facilities and in our community.”
