A handgun was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 500 block of east Brown Avenue.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched Wednesday, Aug. 21, around 11:55 p.m. on a report of a theft of a firearm. Officers were told the victim of the theft returned to his vehicle to retrieve the gun for the night and noticed it was gone.
The firearm is routinely kept inside the vehicle, police were told. The missing gun was described as a Taurus G4 9mm pistol. The firearm had one magazine in the pistol with a total of 12 rounds loaded into the firearm, according to an incident report.
The victim told police the gun was last seen in a carbon fiber holster. The firearm may have been last seen on or about Aug. 16, the victim said. The gun was entered into the system as stolen, and the victim told officers he’d notify them if he located it.
